Your medical group matters, not just your hospital
In California, many Medicare Advantage HMO plans are built around medical groups as well as hospitals. You can have a doctor you like at a hospital you trust and still find that a plan does not work with that doctor's group.
For Irvine residents who use Hoag Hospital Irvine or other local providers, I check both the doctor and the group under each plan, so you know before you enroll.
Many Irvine residents are newer to Medicare, and some are coming off employer coverage. I explain how that coverage works with Medicare so you don't drop something you need or miss a deadline.

Medicare questions from Irvine residents
What is a medical group, and why does it matter?
In California, a lot of HMO-style plans have you pick a medical group, and your care runs through that group. If your doctor belongs to a group the plan doesn't work with, you might not be able to keep that doctor. I check this for you before you choose.
I use Hoag for my care. Can you check my plan options?
Yes. Tell me who your doctors are and which hospital you prefer, and I'll check them under each plan I show you. Networks change from year to year, so it's smart to do this again each fall.
I'm turning 65 in Irvine. When should I start?
Your Initial Enrollment Period starts three months before the month you turn 65. Starting a few months early gives you time to look at plan options and confirm your doctors without a rush.
I have retiree coverage from my employer. Do I still need Medicare?
Often you still need Part B, and sometimes Part D. It depends on the plan. I'll look at your specific coverage with you before you decide anything.
I'm turning 65 soon. When should I start?
Your Initial Enrollment Period starts three months before the month you turn 65 and ends three months after it. Starting a few months ahead gives us time to review your options.
What does it cost to work with you?
Nothing. The insurance company pays me a commission, not you, so your premium is the same whether you enroll through me or directly with Medicare. There's no fee for a consultation, a plan review, or the yearly check-in.
