Common questions

Quick answers

What is Annual Enrollment, and when does it end?

Annual Enrollment runs October 15 through December 7 every year. During that time, anyone with Medicare can switch Medicare Advantage plans, switch Part D drug plans, or move between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage, and you don't need a special reason. Changes start January 1. After December 7, your options get much narrower.

My Medicare Advantage plan is being discontinued. What happens now?

During Annual Enrollment (October 15 through December 7), you can shop for and enroll in a new plan no matter what timeline your plan gave you for ending. You don't need a special qualifying event, because Annual Enrollment gives everyone that same flexibility. And you can look at your options with me before October 15 so you're ready.

My doctor is no longer in-network. What are my options?

During Annual Enrollment, you can switch to a plan in your area that keeps your doctors in-network, and you don't need a special reason. It's worth a quick, no-cost check before you assume you have to change doctors.

What if I miss the December 7 deadline?

After Annual Enrollment closes, your ability to make changes is much more limited. It's usually only possible if you have a specific qualifying event, like your plan being discontinued or a permanent move. That's why I'd check your options early, while you have the most flexibility.

Does this cost anything?

No. The insurance company pays me a commission, not you, and your premium is exactly the same whether you enroll through an agent or directly with Medicare.

Annual Enrollment is October 15 – December 7

A quick call could save you from a coverage gap or losing your doctors. It costs nothing to check, and once the window closes, your options narrow fast.
